Some marine diatoms
In April 2026, Elizabeth Beston (The Plankton Project https://nbn.org.uk/biological-recording-scheme/the-plankton-project/) kindly sent me a plankton sample collected at Cromer Pier in North Norfolk. Fine sediment had also been washed into the sample.
A look inside the sample reveals many colonies of Bacillaria paxillifer in motion.
